Upon watching Construction

Gazing out the lazy window, to see
Docile giants of perspiring steel
As if the gods were playing with a broom and dust pan.
Silent thank yous, they exchange as
Silent beasts doing colossal tasks without audible complaint
Humbly bowing to cars as intrusion arrests development.
With unspoken expectance
they uplift slabs of concrete as if they were stony pencils.

Like ancient dinosaurs--
slow yet full of purpose.

wow, vivid. I like the way all the syllables make the lines slow--apropos.
