I thought I would share these with all/any of you. In my tenth grade class (I teach English at Orem High) we played Poetry Poker. Each student has 5 cards and they can exchange up to 3 of them for other cards. These words are random and vary in difficulty and spontanaeity. The poems had to be atleast 12 lines and they couldn't use more than one word per line. To ease their troubled souls, I decided to write one along with them. These next three poems are the result of my agreement to play the infamous Poetry Poker. They might not be good, but they are fun! Enjoy and try this at home!

What about poems your students did? Are they as prolix as you?

That is a really good idea for your class. What a fun teacher!
