Here are some poems my students wrote. I swear most of them are better than me.

My mind is closed
My body is posed

I wear what they wear
Even if I honestly don't care

I laugh when they laugh, I cry when they cry
Though inside I know it's a lie

How do I break the mold?
How do I get out of the cold?

To be an individual, a dream
That's all I want, as good as cream

For now, I will stay this way
Waiting for my sweet payday

Assignments come in,
But they don't go back.
Cramming is my way and I don't check my backpack.
Daring as I am, I still get A's.
Even the Milkman says hooray!
Finding the time is overrated,
Get off your butt, before it's too late, Ed.
Heaven said nothing about any homework.
I hope they didn't lie...naaa.
Just kick back, relax, there's nothing to worry about,
Keep it a secret, though, don't let your pa find out.
Livin' the life is just for
Me. Burn your homework if you agree!

Surrounded by people
They do not notice me
I do not notice them
Standing, talking, laughing
About what I do not know.

In a place where I don't belong
I just want to disappear,
Just want to get away.
My heart beats faster
My stomach aches inside
In this crowded room.

Am I still alone?

Ode to the bathroom

Dear bathroom, I love you so.
Dear bathroom, You free my soul.
Letting all my fluids fly
Without you I would surely die.
I turn all my foods into waste
You flush it to a better place

Toilet you have let me down,
Clogging up to let me drown.
But think of all the good times we've had
You've helped me out when I've felt bad

Dear bathroom, I love you so
I miss you much, I've got to go!

Starts in the bulb
little it grows
Wasting no time with things around,
reaching for what it wants most

Gasping thin air it
breaks through the surface
not stopping, there it goes on.

Now looking down
to where it once was,
in the soft wool the bulb is still there.

Wisdom brought it to the sky.
Now it is just a matter of time
before maroom petals fall.
