My wonderful cousin Abbey tagged me, asking me to write down three things that I love. And, I do not want to continue writing the paper I was writing about Irish short stories, I am more than happy to be tagged. Here it goes:
1) Teaching.
I have been teaching at Orem High since August and it is what makes me happy. My roommates laugh at me and say that the majority of my friends are 17-18 years old. Which is currently true. Teaching brings me such joy. I laugh at my kids (did I say "at"? Because I meant "at") and make learning as fun as possible. And explaining a concept and watching any of my students finally "get it" is worth the pennies they pay me. I love to teach.
2) Exploring.
Anyone that knows me knows that I am feeling progressively more and more stuck in the life I am currently leading. I am constantly looking up flight plans for this summer's to-be-determined adventure and justifying the outrageous prices. So I have vowed to explore while I am still here. I am finding things in Utah that I have never known of before (fun dances, the ballet, storytelling festivals, jazz concerts) that are making me feel comforted and rejuvenated. The sky is the limit, but I am finding wonderful, uplifting activities that are constantly molding me into a better, more well-rounded person.
3) Singing.
Speaking of exploring out of my zone, I made a new year's resolution to be in a band. So I went on craigslist and posted a note, saying that I wanted to find a band in need of a vocalist. I got a lot of offers, and one really seemed to fit my skill and musical interest. So we've been playing around with some songs and some ideas. And it is a blast. Aron is the most talented guitarist I have ever met (love you Dad) and he claims that my vocal style only adds to the overall effect he wants his music to achieve. It is so empowering to be a part of something tangible and potent. I was sick of sitting on my musical gift and waiting for something great to happen. I love to sing. Love love.
So there I am, in three spurts. Life is grand.
