I know this isn't a poem, but I had to brag/vent for just a minute.

I came to school this morning (this being the third day of the school year) fully prepared for what I was to accomplish that day. 2 minutes after my first period started, the woman from the writing lab came to inform me that the lab was, in fact closed for the day. My lesson plans revolved around the writing lab, so I had a few moments to re-plan my whole day. The kids took their school pictures today, so I had fifteen minutes to reconfigure the lessons before I was back on stage and in charge.

And it worked! I actually thought of some really cool ideas that would take up time and get their brains thinking. And then during lunch, I quickly cut out some newspaper articles (not fully knowing why) for my newspaper class the next period. We did a fun "guess the headline" activity that took up just enough time for them to get started on the homework.

I rock. Today gave me the confidence to map out the rest of the school year. If I can get through today, I can get through anything.

With only moments to plan.
