Writing exercises: Unleashing the inner poet
I am reading "PoemCrazy" by Susan Woolridge. She is a genius in her profession; she says that poetry is inside all of us. She gives all sorts of ideas and exercises in order to get the reader to start the poetry process. She advises the reader to write down two words that you wouldn't usually pair together; an adjective and a noun. So, the following list is part of my process. If the words begin to sound churchy, it's because this list kept me from falling asleep at church.
Prickly guilt
Stringy retribution
Curly sickness
Straight chaos
Curvy madness
Brittle embarrassment
Soft presence
Opaque patience
Round silence
Square poverty
Rough boldness
Silent values
Broken aptitude
Flattened curiosity
Smooth deception
Lace toleration
Brass flirtation
Rocky discomfort
Ashy redemption
Dry assignment
Glossy impatience
Harsh healing
Crumpled hiatus
Which one(s) is your favorite? I want to write a few poems, using some of the phrases. Your input would be appreciated
