The Christmas concert to beat all Christmas concerts

I realize that Christmas concerts are not competing against each other, but this one was exceptional. The Madeleine Choir School in Salt Lake is a private music school that blew me away.

It was in a glorious cathedral. I couldn't take my eyes off the walls, they were so intricate. It was a Catholic service, so there were prayers and readings and blessings. The congregation got to sing along with the choir on some songs, some of which I had never sung before. Here are a few of the other highlights of the evening.

1) Going with my old roommate, Abby. I forget just how much fun we have together.
2) Seeing the wide array of singers. It ranged from 8-25.
3) Sitting by a proud mother of her singing daughter in her first cathedral concert.
4)Watching and listening to a quartet of men (two old, two very young), and the two older helping the younger stay on cue.
5) Listening to an angelic version of "O Magnum Mysterium"
6) Singing along with the choir during the well-known Christmas Carols
7) Embracing another religion for an evening, and wanting to learn more.
8) Making small talk with one of the female volunteers
9) Hearing the most intricate harmonies sung with perfection
10) Watching a 10 year old boy sing the purest soprano solo
11) Listening to the organ up on the loft and not being able to count how many pipes there were.
12) Spending time with one of my dearest friends, Darrin.
13) Getting out of my apartment and dressing up for winter weather
14) Driving home and seeing downtown dressed in lights
15) Buying a 20 piece chicken nugget meal and pigging out with Abby on the road home.
16) Realizing now, more than ever, that it is beginning to feel like Christmas.

The concert was at 331 E South Temple in Salt Lake. They perform on the 16th and the 24th at 8 and 4, respectively. I can't recommend it highly enough.
