A good friend will claim that
He knows how you feel.
It is a noble, yet unnecessary
trait of a loyal camaraderie.
Humankind has the limiting potential of
Closeness; physical intimacy.
But even the rugged reality of sex
Does not make
Two become One.
Although it's the best we've got.
He can know of my sorrow
But not its whole cause or effect.
He doesn't know that
One moments' pain dates back
Far before the current cry.
I don't think even God
Has experienced the personalized sadness
According to me.
Yet I turn to Him; He is
The best I've got.
Just as I nuzzle into my
Omni-empathetic lover
On the sofa.
